Spinning Wool in City Park

Are those coyotes? Grab the dogs.

— Bailey

I love those weekend nights when one can avoid the trap of feeling like they need to drink themselves silly, and instead go do something novel and special (but still drink a little while doing it). My recent obsessions with long exposure wire wool light painting and timelapse prodded me out the door to try to combine the two. What bette rplace to do so than City Park New Orleans. Half of the enormous park consists of an abandoned golfcourse, which, when you’re in it, can really make you forget you’re inside city limits.

My roomate Bailey and I headed out there with the dogs and had some fun spinning wool and lighting off some roman candles. We were drinking beers and just messin’ around when we heard coyotes (note the major pause in activity in the timelapse, thats when we were a little freaked out and zoned in on our surroundings). Eventually the howls subsided and we got back to it. In afterthought, I think the still frames are more striking than the actual video for this project.
